Thomas Tuchel hails Borussia Dortmund match-winner Park Joo-ho

Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel hailed last-gasp match-winner Park Joo-ho after his side came from behind to beat Krasnodar 2-1 in their Europa League opener.

New signing Park marked his first appearance for the German side by heading home a decisive goal in injury time from a Matthias Ginter cross.

Park had earlier set up Ginter's equaliser after Pavel Mamaev had given the Russians an early lead in the Group C encounter at Signal Iduna Park.

Tuchel said in his post-match press conference: "I know Park Joo-ho and I know that you can rely on him 100 per cent.

"It was not easy for him – new team, new surroundings, various positions. It took him a while to find his flow, but he worked through it. This bears witness to his great heart.

"Park had to fight some cramps during the game, so it's impressive that he went for the winner in the final minutes."

Dortmund were not at their fluent best but the result maintained their fine start to the season, having now won 10 in succession since Tuchel took charge.

The Germans did dominate the second half but Tuchel acknowledged his team made a sluggish start.

He said: "It took a long time to find our way into the game. I thought our passing and body language looked sloppy.

"We needed time to get used to new personnel and positions. We had a few defensive mishaps and overlooked some spaces offensively."

The Bundlesliga outfit had dominated after cancelling out Pavel Mamaev's early goal through Matthias Ginter but seemed to be running out of time to claim victory at Signal Iduna Park - a match that was broadcast live on BT Sport Extra.

Krasnodar goalkeeper Andriy Dykan produced a number of saves and Sergei Petrov cleared off the line to frustrate Dortmund but the hosts eventually broke through as the Group C encounter went into injury time.

The Germans conceded in the 12th minute as the lively Fedor Smolov broke clear on the right and wrong-footed Ginter to cross from the byline. Mamaev timed his run well, coming in unmarked at the near post to turn the ball home.

More than half an hour had gone before Dortmund had a serious opening but Gonzalo Castro wasted the chance, firing high and wide from Ginter's square ball.

Adnan Januzaj began to trouble Krasnodar and played in Mkhitaryan but Dykan smothered his effort. Dykan saved again as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang met a Januzaj corner with a firm volley.

Dortmund levelled on the stroke of half-time as Park floated a cross into the box and Ginter leaped to meet it with a firm header.

Januzaj and Mkhitaryan both had chances early in the second half as Dortmund, with Shinji Kagawa coming off the bench to add further impetus, upped the tempo. Mkhitaryan curled an effort wide and Januzaj looked certain to score after combining with Kagawa and turning to shoot, but Dykan produced a brilliant save.

Handling conditions became difficult for Dykan in the rain and he could only parry an Ilkay Gundogan free-kick but Krasnodar scrambled clear.

Dykan saved again from Ginter but Dortmund pressed until the end. The winner came as Park stooped to meet a deep first-time cross from Ginter.

Marco Reus nets a treble as Borussia Dortmund run riot against Odd

Marco Reus scored a hat-trick as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Odd 7-2 to claim a 11-5 aggregate win and book their place in the Europa League group stages.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the scoring for Dortmund after Ole Jorgen Halvorsen had put Odd ahead before Reus notched twice in four minutes.

Athletic Club progressed on the away goals rule after their 1-0 win over MSK Zilina saw them draw 3-3 on aggregate but Southampton crashed out after a 1-0 defeat by FC Midtjylland saw them go out 2-1.

FK Qarabag stunned Young Boys 3-0 on Thursday for a 4-0 aggregate win while Rubin Kazan went through with a 1-0 (2-1 agg) victory over Rabotnicki.

Krasnodar's 5-0 win in the first leg saw them though against HJK Helsinki despite a 0-0 draw in Finland while Lech Poznan took a 1-0 (4-0 agg) victory over Videoton.

Legia Warsaw defeated Zorya Luhansk 3-2 for a 4-2 aggregate win while Dinamo Minsk beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2 on penalties after their tie was level at 2-2 on aggregate, following Salzburg's 2-0 victory in the second leg.

Sparta Prague, PAOK Salonika, Fenerbahce, Slovan Liberec, FK Qabala, Rosenborg, Viktoria Plzen, Molde and Belenenses also booked their places in the group stages.

Matthias Ginter warns Borussia Dortmund teammates against complacency

Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter has warned his team-mates against complacency when they host Odd BK in Thursday's second leg of their Europa League play-off.

The German outfit won 4-3 in Norway last week, despite going three down and are now favourites to progress to the group stages.

Thomas Tuchel's side has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, winning six of six games in all competitions and scoring 20 goals in the process while keeping five clean sheets.

However, Ginter wants no surprises and said on his club's official website: "We have to be wide awake from the very start.

"It's the same for every game.

"We now know how they play."
